Question

Question

Will I still be able to take up a place with the Medical School if I have had hepatitis?

Answer

Answer

All new medical students are seen by the University Occupational Health department to ensure they are fit to study and do not have a health problem that could pose a danger to patients. The screening tests carried out are in accordance with guidance from the Department of Health. Students who could pose a risk to patients from blood-borne viruses are able to continue their training, but are required to refrain from taking part in a list of "Exposure Prone" procedures.
